Kijiji guide
How many free ads can you post on Kijiji?
The short answer
It depends on the category, and on whether Kijiji treats you as a private seller or a business. There is no single number. As of October 1, 2026, Kijiji’s help pages say:
- Services: no free listings. Every Services listing has a fee.
- Real Estate: 1 free listing for sale and 1 for rent. Real Estate Services: none free.
- Cars & Vehicles: 1 free listing in each vehicle group. Automotive Services: none free.
- Buy & Sell: no general limit is published. A few subcategories have one.
- Pets: dogs, puppies, cats and kittens for adoption: none free.
- Jobs: 1 free listing.
If you post as a business, you pay the fees in all of these limited categories.
The limits Kijiji publishes
Kijiji lists its free-ad limits in one table, on its Category Pricing Overview | Listing Fees page. The numbers are for a personal account. Here is that table, in plain words:
| Category | What it covers | Free listings |
|---|---|---|
| Services | All Services categories | 0 |
| Real Estate | For Sale: houses, condos, land, commercial and office space | 1 |
| Real Estate | For Rent: rooms, long- and short-term rentals, storage and parking, commercial and office space | 1 |
| Real Estate | Real Estate Services | 0 |
| Cars & Vehicles | Cars & Trucks, Classic Cars | 1 |
| Cars & Vehicles | Boats, motorcycles, RVs, trailers and campers, ATVs and snowmobiles | 1 |
| Cars & Vehicles | Heavy equipment and farm equipment | 1 |
| Cars & Vehicles | Vehicle parts, tires and accessories | 1 |
| Cars & Vehicles | Automotive Services | 0 |
| Buy & Sell | Business & Industrial (all categories) | 1 |
| Buy & Sell | Computer repair services, mobile phone services | 0 |
| Pets | Dogs and puppies, cats and kittens for adoption | 0 |
| Jobs | All Jobs categories | 1 |
The same page adds one rule for businesses: “Business sellers are required to pay applicable posting fees across all categories listed above.” In other words, a business account gets no free listings in these categories.
What about Buy & Sell?
Most people asking this question sell in Buy & Sell — electronics, furniture, tools, clothes. Kijiji’s limits table names only two Buy & Sell groups: Business & Industrial (1 free listing) and computer and phone repair services (none free). It publishes no limit for the rest.
On September 30, 2026, a Kijiji moderator told a seller on Kijiji’s own forum that “there are no posting limits in buy and sell” (Moderator reply, “Unable to post additional ads” (Sept 30, 2026)). That is a reply on a forum, not a policy page, so treat it as a good sign rather than a promise.
What happens when you go over?
Kijiji says that when a personal account goes over the free limit in a category, the account “may be assigned a high-volume seller status” — such as Professional Landlord, Car Dealer or Recreational Vehicle Dealer — “and become subject to posting fees in that category” (Category Pricing Overview | Listing Fees).
- Fees are charged per listing, “for each 31-day listing period” — so a paid ad is not a one-time cost.
- Kijiji does not publish one price list. Fees vary “depending on category, account type, and posting history” (Policies for Paid Categories). Its Kijiji Terms of Use say you can review and accept a fee before you pay it.
- Making extra accounts to dodge the limits is not allowed: “Creating or using multiple accounts to avoid listing fees or posting limits is strictly prohibited” (Policies for Paid Categories).
How long an ad lasts, and how it sinks
Most Kijiji ads stay up for 60 days. Listings that paid an insertion fee, and some professional accounts, get 31 days. A few days before an ad expires, Kijiji emails you an option to repost it, and reposting “places it back among the newest ads in its category” (How Long Kijiji Listings Stay Active).
In between, the ad slides down the page. Buyers who sort by Most Recent see the newest ads first, and even Best Match, which Kijiji offers on keyword searches, counts “listing recency” as one of its signals (Sorting Search Results). Each new ad in your category pushes yours a little lower.
Kijiji sells two ways to fight that:
- Bump Up resets your ad’s posting date so it moves back up where newer ads appear first. A recurring Bump Up does this every 3 days (Bumping Up Your Kijiji Listings).
- Top Ad shows an extra copy of your ad in a section of up to six ads at the top of search results. Your normal listing still “may move lower over time as new ads are posted” (Promoting Kijiji Listings through Top Ads).
The rules that matter more than the number
Staying under the limit is not enough. These rules get more ads removed:
- No duplicates. Kijiji does not allow the same item, service or offer to be posted more than once: not twice in one category, not across categories, and not in more than one city or region. Its filters may remove duplicates automatically (Posting Duplicate Ads Policy).
- Post where you are. More than one city is allowed only if you are really between two Kijiji regions and serve both (Posting Duplicate Ads Policy).
- Be honest about who you are. Posting “as a Private Seller, Owner, or Individual when you are a Business, Dealer or Professional” is not allowed, and neither is “posting ads using multiple different email addresses” (Posting Policies). A business account is free to open; listing fees depend on the category (Personal and Business Accounts).
- Skip the VPN. Kijiji may temporarily restrict accounts or ads when it sees VPN use or a foreign network it rates as high-risk (Use of VPN or Using Kijiji Outside Canada).
What Kijiji does not publish
We looked for these on October 1, 2026 and could not find them on Kijiji’s help pages, so we will not guess:
- One list of limits for every category. A Kijiji moderator said the posting page tells you how many free ads you are allowed before you post (Moderator reply, “Free listings in Automotive Parts” (Sept 5, 2026)).
- A daily posting cap.
- How often you may delete and repost your own ad. Kijiji says its limits help prevent “excessive reposting”, but gives no number (Category Pricing Overview | Listing Fees).
- Whether a deleted ad still counts toward a category’s limit.
How AdPoster AI keeps your ads near the top
AdPoster AI reposts your own ads on a schedule, from your own computer and your own Kijiji account. It is built around the rules above:
- It does not stack duplicates. It deletes the old copy first, and posts the new one only after the delete is confirmed.
- One ad per item. Each ad goes in the one category that fits it best. Do not post the same thing twice.
- It never pays Kijiji. If Kijiji asks for a payment to post, AdPoster AI cancels that post and tells you why. It is a tool for free listings.
- You set the pace. Every 6 hours at the most, every 12 hours if you take our advice, or as little as every 2 days.
- It is you, on your own connection. You sign in to Kijiji yourself, once, in its own Chrome window on your PC. No shared logins. Keep any VPN switched off.
AdPoster AI is not affiliated with Kijiji. Kijiji sets and enforces its own rules, and no tool can promise that Kijiji will accept or keep any ad.
Stop reposting by hand.
30 days free, no card. AdPoster AI puts your ads back with the newest listings, on your schedule.
